(Kodaly)

(Dalcroze)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFZlVgTtwE4
First of all, my favorite lesson among the three is the Dalcroze lesson. I love the way the teacher makes the lesson super fun by having the students act like wolves. They looked like they really enjoyed it! All of these lessons are completely different, yet they all have the same main focus, which is to help children better understand music by breaking it down into these three teaching styles. The students in the first video demonstrating Orff's approach, used music sticks to interact and make rhythmic sounds. The second video using Kodaly's approach, involved the students in many ways. First using the hand signals and continuing on to play different games, but still involving the Kodaly method. The third video using Dalcroze's approach, involves the students by reading notes two different ways. By saying the beats, but then barking like wolves. The children were all interacting well and knew what they were doing! The ways that these teachers used each method, kept the students interested and alert.

Week 9: Instrument Videos
Instruments & Their Families
My first video is a instrument from the brass family. I chose the trumpet. I chose the trumpet, because I have always loved to hear a trumpet being played and I love jazz music. The instrument is categorized in this family, because it, along with the others of the family are played by blowing air through closed lips. This produces a buzzing sound that sends the sound through the instrument and making waves of noise that comes out of the instrument.

My second video is from the percussion family. I chose the cymbals. I chose the cymbal, because it is my least favorite instrument from the family. The cymbal is in the large family of percussion because it is usually an instrument that produces sound when you hit. You can hit it, or others in the family, you can scratch, shake, or rub to make a vibration that produces a sound.

My third video is from the strings family. I chose the cello. I chose this video because I love Coldplay and I thought this guy is very talented with the cello. The cello is in the strings family, because the instruments, including the cello have strings that you can be plucked, picked, bowed, or struck. In the case of the cello, you bow it.

My fourth and final video is from the woodwinds family. I chose the flute. I love the way a flute sounds if played correctly, as in this video. I also love the Titanic, which is why I chose this video. (Please fast forward through the men speaking.) The flute is a part of the woodwinds family, because you use a mouthpiece to blow into the instrument. When you blow into the flute, the vibration inside produces the sound.

Week 7
VOCAL TECHNIQUE
Video One:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thXMcwEAmLA
This video is demonstrates the wrong vocal technique in so many ways! First of all, she is sitting down and when you are sitting down, you cannot sing through your diaphragm as well, She is not singing through it at all. Also, she is does not have good posture and she is very nasally. Her range and her tune is very off compared to the singer of the song.

This video, on the other hand is more pleasant to hear. This girl has a beautiful singing voice. She breaths often and is also singing from her diaphragm and has very good posture. Her tune and range is practically perfect. I could listen to this girls voice all day!

Week 6 Reflection Blog
What Happened?
For week 5, we were to choose one of the rhythmic poems and recite the poem with a steady beat and then introduce the poem with the Ti's and Ta's. I chose the Ickle-ockle poem.
What I Did Right?
I said the Ickle-ockle poem very well compared to my professor. However, I presented it in a slower rhythm.
What I Did Wrong?
I was completely wrong on the Ti's and Ta's of the poem.
I also had technical difficulties that caused me to upload my video late.
What I Would Change?
If I were to go back and change how I did this assignment, I would carefully re-do my Ti's and Ta's and review how my professor did them.
I would also make sure to try and do the video blogs a little earlier, to make sure I have plenty of time to upload my videos if they were to be slow again.
What I Learned?
I learned how to do my Ti's and Ta's correctly by watching my professor and my classmates video blogs.

RHYTHM
I think that rhythm is a reoccurring sound or beat. If music does not have good rhythm, I am not interested in it.
- What do you like about the way she presented the information? Why?
- What do you dislike about the way she presented information? Why?
- Is this an example of good teaching? Why do you think so?
- How many different ways did she present the information? Why do you think this is important?

Introduction
Hello everyone, my name is Brittany Price and I am a Junior at WVSU. I studied at Concord University my first two years. My major at WVSU is Elementary Education. I am born and raised in Boone County, West Virginia and I live in the Madison/Danville area.
I have always loved children and knew that one day, I would become a teacher. I have participated in numerous events involving children from after school tutoring, to observing, to coaching cheer leading.
I hope to gain better music skills so that I can use them with my future students. I have not been a part of any musical experiences unless you count singing in the car and in the shower. :)
I am 20 years old and the youngest of my two sisters and one brother. I am a daddy's girl. My dad is 75, but doesn't act or look a day over 50. He is the sweetest, most stubborn man you will ever meet. My mom is my best friend and I would not change that for the world.
My sisters and brother have blessed me with all together, 3 nephews and 1 niece whom I adore. I am very outgoing and I always try to find the fun in EVERYTHING! My friends would describe me as funny, caring, and very loud! I have a passion for fashion. My motto is "Live each day as if it were a fashion show and the world is your runway!" I am always finding new patterns and outfits to put together. I also have a passion for helping children. I hope that one day I will leave an impact on thousands of them forever!
"I fell in love with a man, and that man is Manhattan." --Carrie Bradshaw
New York City is my favorite place on earth. My goal is to one day live and teach there. It is of course; "The Big Apple!"
